Outfit of the day - Frilly and formal

Top post on IndiBlogger.in, the community of Indian Bloggers

I wanted to do a 'Colour in formals' post with this dress. But no matter how much I tried, I could not add colour to this outfit without it looking loud or discordant. So I accessorized it simply and added my magazine purse to the outfit to provide very little colour :-)

Despite the frills in the top half, this dress is very formal mainly due to the colour and the cut. And I love the wide belt which accentuates my waist. I added black stud earrings and a black crystal necklace to make this a formal look.

So do you like this look? And how would you add colour to this outfit? If I can get some good suggestions, I will try and come up with a 'Colour in formals' post with this dress :-)

Preparing for winter with Tbdress

While Mumbai is battling a heat wave (which will continue the whole of October), many countries are lucky enough to be experiencing the beginning of fall. From visiting blogs around the world, I am envying the lovely fall fashion that is being showcased.

Well, here in Mumbai, I can only look forward to a cool winter sometime in December. But people in Delhi (north of India) will soon be bringing out their sweaters as the weather starts turning cool and they face the winter blasts from November (any Delhiites, please correct me if I am wrong! :-))

Inspired by the fall wardrobe of my fellow bloggers, I browsed the lovely cheap sweaters of Tbdress which are perfect for fall and winter and am sharing some of my favorites. Tbdress has sweaters for women, cardigan sweaters for women and best of all, these are cheap sweaters for women.

The range is cute, colourful and really stylish. So check out the link below to go through their truly lovely collection.

Outfit of the Day - Burgundy (me) and green (hubby)

This Sunday, met up with my group of friends who have featured here before. I will soon be putting up a review of the cafe where we met. I did realize one thing - when we go out to meet friends, hubby is always ready to pose for me ;-)

So this post features both our outfits. I wore the pencil skirt I got from Korea with a black top, a burgundy bag (love the colour of this bag!) and a necklace that I got from my mom. As a kid, I used to see my mom wear this necklace and loved it. Mom gifted it to me last year, and it is one of my all time favorites. Love the mix of pearls with the rubies and diamonds :)

As for hubby, he paired his bright green tee with fawn trousers and brown shoes. I love this tee of his!

So let us know what you think of our outfits!

PS: I generally do not do much make-up. But I went with smoky eyes for this outfit. Do let me know how it looks :)

How to wear houndstooth

Houndstooth is making a huge comeback, so I’ve put together two outfits that showcase how to wear it. I went for the two classics here: black and brown, and decided to show how the outfits can work both in casual and dressy settings. The pattern is busy without being elsewhere, so let that shine through when deciding what to wear. Go with a plain black or white tee shirt for the black, or a warm off-white for the brown option.  Houndstooth should be the focal point, so skipping patterns and going with neutral colors is the way to go.

So how would you style houndstooth? Let me know in the comments!

Quinceanera dresses at Tbdress

So what is Quinceanera? That's the question that came to my mind when Tbdress told me about Quinceanera. A bit of googling gave me the answer ;-)

Quinceanera is the celebration of a girl's fifteenth birthday in parts of Latin America. It marks her transition from childhood to young womanhood - this is what I got from wiki. In case I have missed something, hope my Latin American friends will add to it :-)

So for this celebration, the girl wears a beautiful dress which to me looks like a ball gown. And the best part - Tbdress has a fabulous collection of pretty Quinceanera dresses in every color imaginable. I loved the gorgeous dresses and have shared my favorite ones below.

I am never going to fifteen again (obviously), but these dresses are just so lovely, that I would love to rock them. And of course you can look gorgeous in these dresses too.

So go through the following link and let me know which is your favorite! :-)

Colour in formals - yellow + polka

So I am back with another 'Colour in formals' post. Instead of adding colour, I actually had to sober down the outfit in this post :-) That's because the dress is a bright yellow. While it is quite formal, I accessorized it with simple diamond drop earrings, brown pumps and a white clutch to make the look more office appropriate.

Of course, the clutch might be too small to hold everything that one needs while going to office. Then it can be substituted with a white purse or tote.

Overall, I have kept the look very simple and let the dress be the highlight. :-)

So do you like the look? How would you style it?

Lolita dresses at Tidebuy

Having lived in Japan for sometime, I am familiar with the concept of Lolita. I also saw quite some examples of lolita dresses in Harajuku which is the center of Japanese youth fashion and culture.

Lolita fashion emerged in Japan in the 1990s out of Japanese taste for cuteness - the Hello Kitty type cuteness. Lolitas are immediately recognizable by their frilly dresses, lots of lace and doll-like make-up. And Japanese girls do look really cute when dressed up as lolitas :-)

Having experienced this first hand, I was quite eager to explore the lolita dresses being offered by Tidebuy. They have an amazing collection which is quite true to the lolita concept and the range is quite extensive.

So if you are interested in lolita dresses, do explore the Tidebuy website and let me know your favorites! :-) My favorites are shown below.

Seoul haul :-)

After a few busy days of meetings, I got a couple of days to roam around Seoul and to shop! Shopping is of course always on the agenda when I visit a new place ;-)

So the one thing that Seoul is famous for when it comes to shopping is cosmetics - more appropriately creams, lotions and face packs. In the touristy shopping destination of Myeong-dong, the streets are lined with so many different brands of cosmetics. As per my colleague, most of the brands offer similar quality and the quality is quite good!

Now I am not a person who uses cosmetics much, but these shops were really tempting and offered an astounding range of products. So along with clothes, bags and shoes, I also shopped for lotions and face packs.

I am sharing some of the pics of my haul below. Do let me know which are your favorite parts of the haul in the comments :-)

First, the accessories....
